The crystal-induced arthritis called gout is an extremely painful disease. It affects many Americans, essentially, men over 40 and women who are menopausal. Basically, gout is the result of excessive uric acid build-up in the bloodstream. Uric acid is a substance that is formed when the body breaks down waste products called purines. More so, eating a proper diet helps reduce many of the complications associated with gout and reduces the need for medication to help control the pain.
