Foods containing high amount of purine should be avoided especially if you are suffering from gout. When the body tries to digest purine, uric acid is formed. Some of the purine-rich foods include red meat, avocados, kidney, liver, heart, and sweetbreads. Game meat (duck, goose, venison, and rabbit) and seafood (mackerel, anchovies, and sardines) are likewise high in purine content. Other foods and beverages with yeast also contain so many purines.
