July 2nd, 2009 · Reviews

Uricinex is a natural health supplement from MicroNutra that promotes healthy uric acid balance for healthy joint function. On its main site, it says that Uricinex can help you:

  2. Decrease bouts of joint discomfort & swelling
  3. Enjoy occasional high-purine foods
  4. Promote healthy joints, kidneys, and liver
  5. Benefit naturally without side effects
  6. Better overall health

uricinex

So what are the ingredients in Uricinex? It contains proprietary blend of vitamins, minerals, and herbs. The ingredients in Uricinex have been scientifically recognized for their amazing health benefits.

  • Yucca Herb Stock Leaf
  • Artichoke Herb Powder
  • Garlic Extract
  • Standardized Milk Thistle Extract
  • Turmeric Powder

As stated from their official site:

Yucca Herb Stock Leaf is used to address joint discomfort and is believed to promote liver health.

Artichoke Herb Powder has been used historically for joint discomfort.

Garlic Extract
supports healthy serum uric acid.

Standardized Milk Thistle Extract
has been shown to contain anti-swelling properties.

Turmeric Powder
has been used in ancient cultures as a medicinal herb.

These ingredients, along with a healthy lifestyle, can support healthy uric acid and joint function. In addition, MicroNutra claims that their products are manufactured and packaged under the strict guidelines of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration current Good Manufacturing Practices, or cGMP. Our food supplement facilities are FDA-registered and our product claims conform to rigorous FDA standards.

There are a lot “natural remedies supplements” springing up online and I can confidently say that many are bogus websites and pills. That is why you can hardly see me recommending any health supplements.

I always tell people to trust only reliable sites and MicroNutra is one of them. From what I know, they have a highly trafficked website (Alexa Ranking of 144,294 as of writing), a ready customer service hotline and a 90-day guarantee.

Is Uricinex 100% perfect then? I would be lying if I say yes. No product is 100% perfect in my opinion. There are always pros and cons. So what are the cons?

If you read the Uricinex website entirely, you can find that they mention the words “guaranteed success” and “guaranteed results”. They DON’T mean that you will definitely get rid of your joint discomfort and swelling. These words only imply that you will be 100% satisfied with your purchase or they will refund your purchase price.

They state it under the FAQ portion and somehow I find the term “guaranteed success” a bit misleading.

In addition, the 90-day guarantee comes with terms and condition applied. For example, they state:

“Only two bottles/packages of opened product are eligible for a refund. All other packages/bottles of the same product must be in the factory sealed container to be eligible for refund.”

“Because we ask you to give our products a minimum one month trial period, we do not accept returns until this 30-day period has been completed.”

So I advise you read their “Return Policy” in the event that you really need a refund and understand what their “90-day guarantee” really meant.

Other than these 2 minor shortcomings, Uricinex is generally a reliable and effective natural joint health supplement. Good to go. :)

In fact, I strongly recommend that you call their customer service hotline. If you have any queries, they will be most willing to help you out. Try them out and get your questions answered. Here are the numbers:

Gout and Baking Soda Treatment But Beware of the Side Effects

June 20th, 2009 · Gout Treatment

Did it ever cross your mind that gout can be treated by baking soda? Gout and baking soda treatment seems far fetched but let’s take a look.

Gout is the uric acid build-up in the blood that resulted in the formation of uric acid crystals. These crystals found their niche in the cooler portion of the body such as the joints in the hands or feet.

If uric acid is at its high level, it may also form as lumps under the skin commonly referred to as tophi or as kidney stones. This then is the gout to be treated with baking soda.

Normally, uric acid is formed when waste products called purines is rejected by the body. We also get dietary purines from the Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) cells of animals and vegetables we eat. The DNA and RNA inhabit in the nucleus of the cells, hence called nucleic acids; and their main function is to encode genetic information.

In like manner, purine rich foods can trigger gout. They include shellfish, meat, legumes, mushrooms, asparagus, anchovies, meat organs and alcoholic beverages.

June 10th, 2009 · Gout Diet

If one intends to avoid this painful experience, it can be helped by living a health promoting lifestyle and diet management. Eating habits significantly influence almost all health conditions of our body.

Uric acid is waste material produced in processing the chemical compounds called purines, a substance present in many of the foods commonly eaten today. Needless to say, the uric acid foods that we incessantly eat will only lead to the most dreaded and painful gout.

What happens if there is too much uric acid in the body?

Medically explained, uric acids in our body reach a certain level when it will crystallize.  Altough these crystals are not the real causes of our gout pain. The pain that we feel stems from the natural process by which our immune system is reacting to the crystals because our immune system treats the crystals as foreign bodies that they should attack.

Gout Big Toe - What You Should Know

May 29th, 2009 · Gout Symptoms

Gout that often starts in the big toe and based on its causes and symptoms, is actually a form of arthritis. Both disorders stem from the increased levels of uric acid in the body, aggravated by conditions wherein our system fails to expel the uric acids. Often times it may be aggravated by an over supply of uric acid producing purines  or a combination of both over supply and inability to expel.

The elevation of uric acid if it remains in the body tends to form into crystalline substances that will find its way to the different joints in the body. Hence, the big toe gout is one of the most painful occurrences of gout, since the discomfort is located in a body part that is often used and whose use, could not be avoided.

Big toe gout can be extremely painful. Experiencing gout in this area is aggravated by the fact that walking is a bodily function we cannot avoid, hence the big toe in all its misery is forced to carry bodily weight while in an inflamed condition.

Expect Hyperuricemia if Your Uric Acid is High

May 19th, 2009 · Gout Causes

Hyperuricemia literally means high levels of uric acid in the blood. We all know that elevated levels of uric acid contribute to the building up of gout.  Hence, we should orient ourselves with the known issues that cause this elevation.

The root causes of hyperuricemia can be categorized into three types: one is augmented production of uric acid; second is declined excretion of uric acid; and the third is the mixed type. Here are the other possible root causes of hyperuricemia according to each type:

Augmented Production of Uric Acid

Reasons for augmented production of uric acid relates to high-levels of intake regarding foods which are high in purine, thus resulting to increased metabolism of purine. A diet consisting of food rich in purine is a widespread cause of hyperuricemia.

Therefore, familiarizing ourselves with the foods that are rich in purine can help us avoid gout. Examples of these foods are: meat and other meat by-products, liver, brains, kidneys and other internal meats; seafood mainly shellfish, and dried beans.

How Changes in Climate and Weather Affect your Gout Pain

May 8th, 2009 · Gout Causes

If we tend to blame the change of weather as a cause for our gout pain despite our faithful effort to stay away from uric acid producing purine foods, there is actually medical support for this.

The Greek “Father of medicine”, Hippocrates himself made that observation about weather changes having an influence in our body conditions. The feeling of aching all over during cold weather is the very meaning of the expression “feeling under the weather”.

Actually, it’s not so much about the weather but it’s actually the temperature and the pressure its applying on your gout. Once such sufferer’s experience includes having gout pain whenever the fan was at a stationary position and the flow is directed at his gout knee area. The length of time he stays immobile with a great deal of airflow directed at his gout prone joints will always result to gout pains.

Studies Conducted about the Effect of Weather on Gout Pain

In 1960, an arthritis specialist concluded that the simultaneous occurrence of humidity with low barometric pressure increase stiffness in arthritis as well as gout pain. Barometric pressure being the amount of air pressure around us lowers during stormy or cold weathers and has the tendency to increase the pain in our joints.
